General Meeting "Notes":

In attendance: Sarah Walker, Mark Fenstermaker, Woody Woodward, Gary Vause, Sharon Ruymann, Marjie Holland, Patty Haack, Jennie Diller, Laura Dillon
The Friends of LV Academy received a grant in May in the amount of $26,700 and is joining with the Senior Squares Project to restore the Senior Squares. The grant money has to be used within 18 months and the Friends of LV Academy will control the money until needed.
Mark Fenstermaker, the Project Manager for the Senior Squares Project, has been very busy. He has convinced Marnell Construction to donate the labor for the new concrete square work, removal and installation. He has also convinced Gary Stewart and Darryl Thornton (Nevada Ready Mix) to donate the concrete. Robert Curry, the artist, will donate his time to re-paint the squares. (We need to buy the paint). And we will also need to hire a security company to guard the wet cement and the paint process (the re-painting might be done at a later date, weather permitting).
Patty Haack is looking into a marble or granite plaque that can be incorporated into the squares as a legend and thank you area.
The plan is to reproduce the squares from the years 1941 through 1980. We are in desperate need of pictures of the following senior squares:
- 1945, 1954, 1963, 1964, 1965, 1971, 1972, 1973, 1974, 1975, 1976, 1977, 1978, 1979, 1980
The next meeting will be Monday, September 16. We are hoping it can be held at the school.
