This was a very productive and informative meeting.

- Marji sent the message that Class of '41 will be sending a check for the balance of their reunion fund.
- Woody provided Sharon with a spreadsheet that has the name and contact numbers of each person that has registered to the Website acknowledging they want to help or donate. Sharon is preparing to contact each person with regards their donation. She will wait until our next meeting to formulate the request.
- Steve, Kevin, and an additional gentlemen gave a presentation of the proposal and plans for the LVHS school. This entire project is not anticipated for work production until fall 2002. The First priority will be the exterior or the building, Main Hall, Fraizer Hall and the Gym. The project will in tail removal of all the paint to the buildings and then to work on painting and resurfacing the exterior. Then the Landscaping of the area. All of this will be done to match the closest color scheme as the Original school and grounds.
- This presentation did not include any work to the squares. Steve did discuss the concerns of the condition of the squares as they are and the safety hazard that they propose in their current condition.
- They do not feel that the work contracts will not go out until the fall of 2002. They believe the long range process will be 3 years.
- Gary Vauss. voiced his opinion that he feels it is appropriate to replace/recreate the Senior Squares where they are. That is what is of value and importance to our committee as well as the other alumni's of the school.
- Richard Lenz: Richard is the chairman of the "Friends of the Las Vegas Academy". Over the past years Richard has been successful in raising and restoration of the Huntridge Theater. Richard submitted to the legislators a proposal funds for a grant to redo the Squares. His proposal was granted $26,700.00. Richard stated that based on the restrictions placed on the grant the replacement of the squares project must begin within this year and cannot wait for 3 years after the building exterior and landscape is complete. He said that the Squares could be protected during the construction project. It was suggested too that maybe an endowment fund be established to be used by the School Dist. - Art Department of the LV Academy for on going maintenance. Having told us all of this, Richard will arrange and handle the approval with the School Dist, Planning Dept., and Mr. Gerye.
- So What does this mean? We our committee with Richard's help will move forward with the replacement to bringing back the LVHS Senior Squares. Once the approvals are in place it will be necessary for us to become very active with this project. It has been determined that the concrete will need to be replaced before the squares can be repainted.
- Richard will contact me with the progress he is making with the approvals. Steve R and the other architects stated that they did not have a problem with our plan to move forward and that they agreed to the position we are in and taking to getting started and not wait until they have completed the exterior and landscape of the school.
- I (Sarah Walker) will be contacting the committee for another meeting probably as early as the first of next month after I hear back from Richard.
- Meeting adjourned.
